This two-semester game development class is meant as a capstone course for advanced juniors, seniors, and grad students in CS. The course combines topics from many areas of computer science, including Graphics, A.I., Networking, Computational Geometry, etc. Students will work in groups to design and develop a full-featured, 3D game using a professional game engine (Torque). Students who enroll in CSE450 in the Fall of 2008 will be expected to take CSE451 in the Spring of 2009.

The recommended books are "3D Game Programming All in One" by Kenneth C Finney and "The Game Programmer's Guide to Torque: Under the Hood of the Torque Game Engine" by Edward F. Maurina III which can be purchased through Amazon. Also, we strongly encourage you to read online documentation, tutorials and forums for the game engine at Garagegames.
